An Evening With Marsha Attie
A talented old friend of BCC — Marsha Attie – will be making an appearance at BCC soon again, and we are all invited! A Graduation Cantorial School Recital will be held at BCC on Sunday, May 25 starting at 7:30pm.
Many of us remember fondly back to the days when Marsha Attie would grace our bima often with her beautiful voice, inspiring music (we still sing some of Marsha’s prayers at BCC), and enlivening presence. Whether you are a fan, or haven’t yet heard of her, we are all invited to join Marsha for her recital here at BCC on Sunday night May 25 in celebration (and as the final requirement) for her ordination as Cantor from AJR – the Academy for Jewish Religion.
Marsha has been living in the Bay Area for many years, and after ordination will return to her position at Congregation Emanu-El in San Francisco, but for a brief moment, we’ll have her back with us at BCC.
Marsha has invited our own Cantor Juval Porat to be among the other voices to join her for an evening of liturgical and predictably exquisite music. AT BCC on Sunday evening May 25, 7:30-8:30, followed by a reception. RSVPs not required, but for refreshment purposes, if you do know, please let Marsha know And if you want to know why to come…
Marsha is a composer and recording artist who works individually and collaborates with others. She writes soulful Jewish liturgical music that is sung around the country and recorded by other artists. Her secular song, Heart of Mine, has been a Jewish summer camp hit single since 1995. She has served Congregation Emanu-El in San Francisco as an inspirational liturgical leader since 1998. Marsha will receive her Cantorial ordination from the Academy for Jewish Religion California in 2014.
Marsha’s recorded music includes her first album, “The Length of our Days” and her new CD will be out the early 2013. Some of her songs can also be heard on Craig Taubman’s Celebrate series. “Heart of Mine” can be purchased as a single at CD Baby.

We are very excited about this concert. There are about six of us coming in our party. 🙂
