Counting the Omer: Day 25 — One Powerful Experience
Tamara Kline
Today the 4th day (Netzach) of the 4th week (Netzach) of counting the Omer (see below for an explanation of what this means).
Netzach means endurance or victory over oneself. It means to rise above our weaknesses. It helps us “fight the battle” between our higher and lower selves, and rise to the occasion of being our best self. You can imagine that today’s combination of Netzach and Netzach is one powerful experience!
For today, think of a time in your life when you entered a “battle” with yourself in order to overcome a very intense challenge, addiction, thought or behavior that kept you from being your best self. Then ask yourself: What are some of my biggest personal challenges today, and how can I use the powerful combination of Netzach and Netzach to help inspire the endurance I need to rise to the occasion of my higher self?

Background explanation:
The 49-day Counting of the Omer is a 49-step process designed to inspire us, refine us, and help prepare us spiritually for receiving the Torah on Shavuot.
Some traditions state that each of the 7 weeks symbolize one of G-d’s seven emotional attributes and gives us an opportunity to contemplate and cultivate more of that particular attribute or virtue in our own life.
Each day of the week represents one of the 7 attributes as well, which gives us 49 ways of being in the world to consider and explore for ourselves.
The 7 emotional attributes or virtues are:
- Chesed – Loving-kindness
- Gevurah – Justice and discipline
- Tiferet – Harmony, compassion
- Netzach – Endurance
- Hod – Humility
- Yesod – Bonding
- Malchut – Sovereignty, leadership
