Meet the Women of BCC in September
JUST FOR THE WOMEN! Labor Day, Monday, September 5 – Women’s Havurah at the Annenberg Community Beach House. 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. The Annenberg CBH is a five-acre public facility in Santa Monica. Bike, walk, relax, swim, play Mah Jongg and “nerf” football!
EVERYONE INVITED! Sunday, September 18th – Women’s Havurah Museum Hop at Exposition Park. 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Get your parking dollars’ worth ($10) or just bus it to Exposition Park. The California Science Museum opens at 10 a.m. Beat the crowd to see the new special exhibition, “1001 Inventions,” – discover the scientific contributions made by men and women during the Golden Age of Muslim Civilization. Grab a bite to eat and then hop to the California African American Museum to view “Changers: Less Known, Here Celebrated”- paintings, photographs and other art works that celebrate achievements by African-American women. Followed by a screening at 2 p.m. of “Standing on My Sisters’ Shoulders”- a documentary which highlights the efforts of black female activists in the Civil Rights Movement. Admission is free. Parking is $10 at Figueroa and 39th St.
