STOP THE BULLYING! Friday October 19, Spirit Day at BCC!
Friday October 19, Join us at BCC for Spirit Day!
Spirit Day is an annual day in October when millions of Americans wear purple to speak out against bullying and to show their support for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) youth. It began with an amazing teenager named Brittany McMillan who wanted to remember those young people who lost their lives to suicide and to take a stand against bullying. From the White House to celebrities, schools, parents and organizations—everyone is wearing purple in support of this important cause.
It’s easy to get involved! Simply take the pledge to “go purple” on October 19 as we work to create a world in which LGBT teens are celebrated and accepted for who they are. You can also download a Spirit Day resource kit here to get the tools and ideas on how to turn your community “purple”. Wearing purple on October 19, gives each of us the opportunity to spread the word, stand up and tell everyone that you are speaking out against bullying.
Join Rabbi Lisa and Cantor Juval by wearing purple on October 19 to Ruach Chayim, our Musical Shabbat Service at 8pm!
