Weekend Activities at BCC: April 18-20, 2014
Friday, April 18 at 6:30: EARLY Shabbat Services: How is this Friday night different from all other Friday nights? A special early service in celebration of Shabbat Pesach — Rabbi Lisa and Cantor Juval will celebrate Pesach and Shabbat with a blend of music, prayer, and sharing about Pesach, Shabbat, and the counting of the omer. We invite you to consider the question: what would you take with you from your Egypt to your Promised Land? Followed by a varied and delicious Kosher for Passover oneg, and an opportunity to discuss some more, listen to music and/or just eat and chat with friends. Passover Oneg is sponsored by Bruce Weil in memory of Steve Weisbaum & Jesse Jacobs.
For our friends outside Los Angeles: Friday Shabbat Services will be live streamed. After services join us for Oneg refreshments. Click the “Worship” tab above, on the roll down menu choose “BCC Live Video & Audio” to view the stream. Find out how you can participate in the service from your computer at home!
Saturday, April 19, at 10 am: Saturday Morning Minyan: Join us for traditional style Shabbat morning services infused with BCC’s informal, welcoming spirit and the warmth of community including rousing melodies, Torah reading and insightful discussion of the week’s Torah portion. Learners welcome! An English transliteration of the service is available, making it easy for everyone to participate. Kiddish and vegetarian potluck follows the service.
Sunday, April 20, at 10am: BCC Books & Bagels. Join the BCC Book group to discuss Mazel, by Rebecca Goldstein. A Jewish actress in prewar Warsaw begins anew in America, where her legacy of vitality and independence-and her penchant for story-telling-endures in her daughter, a sixties intellectual, and granddaughter, a mathematician. The group meets in private homes.
