Here are all the programs and activities we’re planning for you this weekend. You can follow and connect with us on our Facebook page, or meet other LGBT Jewish people from LA in the Facebook group:

Friday, October 24 at 8pm. Shabbat Services led by Lay Leaders Herb Toplan, Robin Berkovitz and drash by Bracha Yael. Welcome Shabbat with ancient prayers and moving words. Enter the palace of peace this week, with your BCC family. Services are followed by a social hour.

Saturday, October 25 at 10am: Ohr Chayim. We welcome everyone to this Shabbat’s Family Service which will be led by Leah Zimmerman and Rae Antonoff. We will vary the songs so that we have something for every age! (RSVP’s of “maybe” and “yes” help us to plan! Email leah@bcc-la.org.). The service will be followed by Torah and Hebrew classes for children; schmoozing and Torah study for adults. Special Tutoring! Additional weekday, one on one Hebrew Tutoring is available for students 4th grade and older via Skype. Contact Education Director Leah Zimmerman at Leah@bcc-la.org for more details.

Saturday, October 25 at 7pm, BCC’s Film Club. Join us every other month to view films of interest to our community. We’ll be screening Twilight of the Golds (1996), a story of a mother who has a genetic analysis done on her unborn child. She discovers that although she has a healthy baby, it will most likely be born gay, like her brother. She must decide whether to keep the child or to have an abortion. Her family enters into a crisis about love and acceptance as she makes this difficult choice. All BCC Film Club events are at BCC, free and open to the public. Bring your favorite snacks to share! Havdalah at 7pm, movie at 7:30pm.

Sunday, October 26 at 10am: BCC Books & Bagels. Meet the BCC Book Group to discuss My Promised Land: The Triumph and Tragedy of Israel, by Ari Shavit. An Israeli journalist explores the history of Israel and its conflict with the Palestinians, supplementing the political arguments with his and other Israelis’ personal experiences over the years. The group meets in private homes and space is limited. To reserve a seat, contact Larry at larrynath@aol.com.

Sunday, October 26 at 11:30am: Real Men Brunch. Real Men Brunch is a group of easy-going gay men who meet for brunch one Sunday each month. Brunch locations change each time, allowing the group to explore new neighborhoods and restaurants. In October, BCC’s Men’s Havurah co-sponsors the “Real Men Brunch” at Canter’s Deli.
