Shabbat Service and Holiday Schedule

Kabbalat Shabbat Services

Join the BCC clergy and occasional lay leaders for Shabbat services every Friday night at 8 pm. Check the calendar for special Shabbat events and guest speakers.

Ruach Chayim

“Shabbat is a palace in time” -Abraham Joshua Heschel

Join BCC in welcoming Shabbat with guitar, with drum, with song, with open heart on the last Shabbat of the month.  BCC is known for the spiritual and musical way in which we share and experience Judaism. We invite you to this new take on an age-old tradition!

Our Ruach Chayim musical service has been wildly popular. Let the beautiful combination of voice, guitar and drum transport you to the “palace” of Shabbat.  This service is a participatory and spiritual welcoming to Shabbat in the best of BCC’s tradition. Bring friends, neighbors, co-workers, loved ones, and anyone in your life to learn the new melodies along with us.

The Ruach Chayim service begins at 8:00 p.m. It is usually preceded by a self-pay ($20), Shabbat dinner in the Neighborhood, beginning at 6:00 p.m. Please check the calendar for more information.

Saturday Morning Services

Morning Minyan taken by Davi Cheng

Saturday morning Shabbat services, every 3rd Saturday of the month, 10 am – noon.

Join us for traditional-style Shabbat morning services infused with BCC’s informal, welcoming spirit and the warmth of community.  Rousing melodies, Torah reading, and insightful discussion of the week’s Torah portion. Learners welcome.  Once you try it, you won’t want to miss it.  Kiddush and vegetarian potluck always follows the service.

About the picture:  At a Saturday lay-led morning minyan in July, Davi Cheng captured the sun rays shining onto the Torah from BCC’s sun roofed bimah, just as the Torah readers were preparing to chant.  This photograph was one of the top 5 finalist in URJ’s 2011 photo contest.

 Family and Community Shabbat Service

Sept. to June, beginning at 12/noon.

Our family education program includes a musical service open for the whole community.  The service takes place most Saturdays excluding the third Saturday of the month and some holidays. Check calendar for dates.
