Those of us who were part of the BCC community 12 to 14 years ago will remember a series of elegant dinner parties entitled “Great Chefs/Great Homes of BCC.” This year we are bringing it back with twelve events that will include fine cuisine, gracious surroundings, and engaging conversation hosted by BCC members. Some of our many talented gourmet cooks are planning imaginative multi-course meals they will prepare and serve in their homes or unique work spaces. Guests are offered a memorable dining experience from the first bite of a mouthwatering appetizer through the tantalizing mixture of tastes and aromas in the main course to the last sweet morsel of dessert.

The varied opportunities include intimate Saturday evening dinner parties, Sunday suppers and brunches, a kid friendly family barbecue, an LA Jewish History tour along the Metro round-trip from Universal City to Boyle Heights, and an experience finding your inner creative cake artist.

Saturday dinner parties and Sunday suppers are $72 per person. Festive Sunday brunches are $54 per person. The kids, family and friends barbecue is $27 per adult and $9 per child.

“All Aboard for Jewish L.A.: A Moving Experience” is on Sunday, June 1 from 10:00 am to approximately 3:30 pm, for $90 per person. Guests will gather at Universal City Metro Station to meet co-hosts Steve Sass and Steve Hochstadt for coffee and a nosh, then board the Metro for a tour led by Jewish Historical Society of Southern California President Steve Sass. The walking tour in Boyle Heights will highlight landmarks in this once heavily populated Jewish neighborhood of the 1920s through
1950s. A sumptuous brunch, prepared by Steve Hochstadt, will be served at the historic Breed Street Shul’s fully restored original 1915 building.

“Brunch With the Cake Divas and Decorating Too” is on Sunday June 29 from 11:00 am to 3:30 pm for $90 per person. Guests will meet co-hosts Joanie Spitler and Leigh Grode, the original Cake Divas, of Joanie & Leigh’s Cakes, at their Bel Air kitchen. Guests will chat over coffee and freshly baked croissants, learn how to color butter cream, use fondants and work with geometric shapes in sculpting a cake. The event includes a superb brunch and your cake creation to take home.

The hosts/chefs will underwrite each event, so that all proceeds benefit BCC. Seating is limited to 10 guests per event except All Aboard for Jewish L.A. (20) & the Kids, Family and Friends barbecue (40).

To reserve your place at one or more tables, please mail a check payable to BCC, or call the BCC office and reserve with a credit or debit card. Be sure to mention which date and host(s) you are reserving, and the names of your party.

RSVP to BCC no later than May 15 for May 24 and June 1 events. RSVP by May 31 for June and July events and by July 24 for the barbecue. Space is at a premium and early reservations are strongly encouraged.
