Sin and Forgiveness in the 21st Century with Rabbi Heather Miller
Join us as we take a close look at the Al Cheit and S’lichot prayers in the Yom Kippur Shacharit (Morning) Service of our machzor prayerboik called Mishkan HaNefesh. What is the Jewish understanding of sin? How does it relate to our secular understanding of sin? How do we reconcile the two and make personal meaning of the concepts during the Days of Awe? (Bring your machzor).

Every year, as the Days of Awe approach BCC’s clergy come together to plan services. Our personal experiences, preferences and inspirations taken from years past all go into the planning process. We strive to create spiritual experiences that will resonate with our congregation. In this September 5 session of our High Holy Day preparations, we’ll explore some of the rituals typical to a BCC High Holiday service, and invite you to offer ideas, thoughts and suggestions — whether personal or drawn from other services you have attended or heard about — that we might weave into our BCC services this year. We look forward to ritualizing with you!

The Mindful Return with Cantor Juval Porat
As the invitation to turn inwards intensifies during the month of Elul, you’re invited to explore the spiritual practices provided by Jewish and universal traditions to help us utilize our emotional and mental landscapes for a more wholesome, softer, open and hopeful version of ourselves.
