Weekend Activities at BCC: December 13-15 / 2013

Friday, December 13, at 8:00pm: Shabbat Services led by Rabbi Lisa Edwards and Lay Leader Herb Toplan. You are invited to join us in welcoming Shabbat in the BCC way, filled with sacred prayers and ancient melodies.  Services are followed by a social hour of refreshments.  If you have always wanted to attend BCC’s services or haven’t been able to join in a while–this Friday is a good evening to  experience Shabbat joy.

For our friends outside Los Angeles: Friday Shabbat Services at 8pm will be live streamed. After services join us for Oneg refreshments. Click the “Worship” tab above, on the roll down menu choose “BCC Live Video & Audio” to view the stream. Find out how you can participate in the service from your computer at home!

Saturday, December 14 at 10:00 in San Diego: Cantor Juval Porat’s voice enshrined in Jewish musical history will bring Shabbat glee to the Saturday morning programming at the URJ Biennial in San Diego.

Saturday, December 14, at 10:00 am: Family Shabbat followed by Parent and Me. Cantor Juval will be at the URJ Biennial, but Leah and Rabbi Heather will lead a spirited service. Families with children of all ages are invited to join the Ohr Chayim families for a Shabbat morning service.

Following the service, preschool children and their parents do some singing, storytelling, and crafts together. Elementary school age children are invited to join the Ohr Chayim students for some learning and activities.

Saturday, December 14 at 7:00pm The BCC Film Club Presents “Torch Song Trilogy”! This month’s film is “Torch Song Trilogy,” the cinematic adaption of the landmark play written by Harvey Fierstein.  A moving and funny comedy, starring Anne Bancroft, Mathew Broderick and Harvey Fierstein, which encompasses many of the GLBT issues of the 1970s.  This is a free screening and open to everyone!  Read more here

Sunday, December 15, at 11:30 am: Real Men Brunch: Annual holiday brunch (self-pay). Real Men Brunch will be joined by men from both BCC and Kol Ami synagogues.
