Weekend Activities at BCC: February 7-9 / 2014

Friday, February 7 at 8:00 pm: Shabbat Services led by Rabbi Heather Miller & Lay Leader Herb Toplan . Welcome Shabbat with ancient prayers and moving words.  Enter the palace of peace this week, with your BCC family.  This Shabbat, BCC is honored to support the Girls Scouts of the USA and their mission of girl power.  Stay after services for an hour of socializing and delicious Girl Scout cookies.

For our friends outside Los Angeles: Friday Shabbat Services will be live streamed. After services join us for Oneg refreshments. Click the “Worship” tab above, on the roll down menu choose “BCC Live Video & Audio” to view the stream. Find out how you can participate in the service from your computer at home!

Saturday, February 8 at 10:00 am: Family Shabbat Service followed by Parent and Me Families with children of all ages are invited to join Cantor Juval and the Ohr Chayim families for a Shabbat morning service.

Following the service, preschool children and their parents do some singing, storytelling, and crafts together. Elementary school age children are invited to join the Ohr Chayim students for some learning and activities. Sunday, February 9 at 2:00 pm: “Hope Into Practice” Presentation and Reading with Author Penny Rosenwasser Join author and professor Penny Rosenwasser who will read from her new book, “Hope into Practice: Jewish Women Choosing Justice Despite our Fears.”  This blend of healing stories, fascinating history, and fair-minded perspective of Israeli-Palenstine, asks us to face our fears through self-love.

Rosenwasser describes herself as a life-long, heartfelt rabble rouser for social justice.  She has produced over one hundred educational and cultural events for the Middle East Children’s Alliance, and she has organized and led four women’s peace delegations to Palestine/Israel.  More
