Weekend Activities at BCC: June 20-22, 2014
Friday, June 20 at 6:30pm: Early Shabbat Services & After Shul Special. Join Rabbi Heather Miller & Cantor Juval Porat for an early Intergenerational service. Following the services there is a refreshment oneg sponsored by Rabbi Lisa Edwards & Tracy Moore in honor of Jody Becker, in memory of Herman Edwards (Rabbi Lisa’s father) & Fredy Hirsch, AND in honor of Cantor Juval’s 4th BCC Anniversary. Stay after services for an After Shul Special! “Finding Fredy Hirsch: The Untold Story of A Gay Holocaust Hero.” presented by journalist Jody Becker (approximately at 8pm).
For our friends outside Los Angeles: Friday Shabbat Services will be live streamed. After services join us for Oneg refreshments. Saturday, June 21 at 10am: Saturday Morning Minyan. You’re invited to a traditional style Shabbat morning service infused with BCC’s informal, welcoming spirit and the warmth of community including rousing melodies, Torah reading and discussion of the week’s Torah portion. Learners welcome! An English service transliteration is available, making it easy for everyone to participate. Kiddish and vegetarian potluck follows the service.
Sunday, June 22, Project Chicken Soup. Preparing Kosher meals and delivering to clients with HIV/AIDS, and other serious illnesses: 7:45am to cook; 11:30am to deliver meals. Sunday, June 22, 3-5pm: Zumba Class. Zumba is an aerobic fitness program with lively Latin music rhythms using interval and resistance training. All levels welcome. $10 for members, $20 general. This class will benefit the 20s30s Havurah Summer Jewish Retreat in Big Bear. Wear workout clothes and shoes. Click for more details
